Bio
Tamara Haque is a Strategist by day and writer by night. Bangladeshi by birth and with roots in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Australia, Tamara loved the multi-culturalism in her upbringing and worldview. Her perceptions shattered while learning about orientalism and post-colonialism in her Masters in Interational Relations and Interational Law, and decided to change narratives for children from a young age. Thus started her journey in decolonising history.
Tamara published Stories of 20 Mighty Muslim Heroes in 2021, which won Best Children's Non-Fiction in the Muslim Bookstagram Awards and Fofky's Reader's Choice Best Middle Grade Book. Stories of 20 More Mighty Muslim Heroes is set to release Ramadan (April) 2022.
Tamara is currently working on some picture books and continues to write ranting articles for publications. She regularly partakes in panels and discussions that am to diversify children's bookshelves, and decolonise history.
